GOTECH, INC. WELCOMED MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY’S MARDI GRAS SERVICE GROUP
On Friday, January 15, 2010, GOTECH, Inc. welcomed the Marquette University Mardi Gras Service Group. This is a voluntary student service group whose members travel to New Orleans from Milwaukee, Wisconsin during school breaks to help in the New Orleans rebuild efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
GOTECH, Inc. wanted to thank the students for their kind service to our area and recognize their efforts. 85 students and one parent chaperone from St. Louis, Missouri drove in a 17-van caravan to New Orleans. During their week-long stay, students provided labor for demolition, painting, fence construction and other similar projects for New Orleans residents still recovering from Katrina damage. The group makes four trips per year to New Orleans.
19 GOTECH employees and spouses cooked and served a traditional southern meal for the 85 students. The menu included jambaya, crawfish pie, file’ gumbo, along with fried catfish, seafood slaw, french bread and king cake. GOTECH also provided door prizes, Mardi Gras music and Saints news! Fellowship and a good time was had by all.
Rhaoul A. Guillaume, Sr., president of GOTECH, met several Mardi Gras group students in October during a visit to his alma mater Marquette University. He was honored as the inaugural “Be the Difference” speaker. He told the group, “Being here to help in New Orleans illustrates your living the Marquette motto of ‘Be the Difference.’ “

Guillaume, Sr., P.E., F.ASCE, a 1971 Marquette University (College of Engineering) graduate and President of GOTECH, Inc., a consulting engineering firm headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, served as the Inaugural Returning Alumnus Speaker at Marquette Univerity on October 28, 2009. Each year, beginning in 2009, Marquette University will invite a successful, accomplished alumnus to speak in the classroom and a themed public presentation in the auditorium. Guillaume also spoke to 100 construction management, engineering, business and communication students in Dr. Mark Federle’s classes. Federle is the McShane Chair in Construction Engineering and Management. Guillaume shared lunch with several Mardi Gras students, a volunteer group of Marquette students who travel to the New Orleans Ninth Ward each school break to assist with rebuild efforts.
Guillaume was accompanied by his two sons, Rhaoul, Jr. and Randy who work at GOTECH, Bruce Dyson, Engineering Coordinator and Jeff Floyd, Chief Engineer. GOTECH is a professional engineering and consulting firm established in 1981.

November 2007 GOTECH, Inc. Awarded GSA Federal Supply Schedule Contract
GOTECH, Inc., a leading civil engineering and land surveying firm that provides quality engineering services in the specific areas of civil engineering, design, surveying, construction inspection and program management announced today it has received a U.S. General Services Administration (''GSA'') Federal Supply Schedule contract. This contract gives U.S. Federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, as well as state and local government agencies, the ability to purchase GOTECH's services in a streamlined manner at negotiated rates. GOTECH's GSA contract number is GS-10F-0369T.
Under the GSA Schedule Program, the long-term government-wide contracts with commercial firms are established to provide access to over 4 million commercial services and products that canbe ordered directly from GSA Schedule contractors or through the GSA Advantage!® online shopping and ordering system. The increased visibility and ease or ordering provided by this contract is an important element of GOTECH's long-term strategy to further the use of its civil engineering design, surveying, construction inspection and program management services by government and military customers. In addition, as a small business with a GSA contract, GOTECH is a more attractive subcontractor for large organizations who by law are required to outsource a percentage of their government contract work to small business.
Rhaoul A. Guillaume, Sr., GOTECH President and CEO, commented, ''We are very pleased to receive this award which will enable us to offer government customers a streamlined and efficient way to purchase our engineering related services. This contract provides us with access to thousands of buyers at all levels in government agencies and substantially increases our ability to market our solutions to these buyers.''

GOTECH Among Firms to Design-Build John James Audubon Mississippi River Bridge! |
As seen in The Advocate on April 16, 2006 Construction to begin May 11 on Audubon Bridge "The state Department of Transportation and Development this month awarded a $347.9 million contract to Audubon Bridge Constructors Joint Ventures to design and build the John James Audubon Bridge that will replace the ferry linking St. Francisville and New Roads."
"To save money in later years, the department elected to four-lane more of the bridge structure as part of the initial construction project, DOTD spokesman Mark Lambert said."
"The new brigde is DOTD's first design-build project, which means the contractor will design and build the bridge. It is also included in the state's $4 billion Transportation Infrastructure Model for Economic Development program, also known as TIMED."
"The bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America with a main span length of 1,583 feet that surpasses the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in South Carolina, which has 1,546-foot main span."
"The proposed bridge design is similar to the Mississippi River Bridge in Luling."
"In addition to the 2.44-mile-long bridge structure, the project will include approximately 12 miles of roadway approaches connecting La. 1 at New Roads east of Hospital Road and U.S. 661 south of La. 964 and St. Francisville."
GOTECH is among the Louisiana firms that the group plans to use in designing and building the bridge.
A ceremony to mark the start of construction of the $347.9 million John James Audubon Bridge over the Mississippi River linking St. Francisville and New Roads is scheduled for 2 p.m. May 11 on the Pointe Coupee side of the river. |
